Google will retire some Labs, Google+ features and an older Google Drive plug-in for Microsoft Office

March 27, 2017

Google will retire the following Labs: Authentication Icon, Google Voice Player, Picasa previews, Pictures in chat, Quick Links, Quote Selected Text, Smartlabels, and Yelp previews.

Google will also retire two legacy Google+ features in Gmail: the ability to email Google+ profiles and the use of Google+ Circles. Both expected: No earlier than April 24, 2017

Google has identified user accounts in our domain using versions 1.6.13.0 or older of the Google Drive plug-in for Microsoft Office client.  The Google Drive plug-in authentication flow has been updated to address Google’s efforts to modernize OAuth interactions in native apps for better usability and security. It’s critical that users upgrade to the latest version 1.7.17.0  before April 20, 2017. After April 20, 2017 the sign-in process on older clients will fail.  Google has begun rolling out the automatic updates to all clients. If you have disabled Google Update or installed the Google Drive plug-in in an environment that does not allow automatic updates, download and deploy the latest Google Drive plug-in version (1.7.17.0).
